Cotonou is the commercial city of Benin. A neighbouring country to the West of Nigeria where I once lived. My father always wanted at least one of his children to speak French; so I was sent as the first child, to one of his siblings who lived in Cotonou. I spent my early school years there then returned to Lagos to stay with my parents and endure the second phase of my life. This song will always remind me of those unforgettable experiences I had in Benin -they affected my life positively and negatively.
