This piece was commissioned by The SAMRO Foundation and premiered at The National Arts Festival in 2017. It was Performed by the internationally acclaimed and New York based South African pianist Kathleen Tagg, who is known for her virtuosity and experimental use of the piano, She has arranged a wide array of works for piano, ranging from mbira and kora African instrumental works to new music collaborations with electro-acoustic artists like David Krakauer. This makes her the perfect match for this piece as it carries high influences of polyrhythmic styles which are unique to indigenous African music, as well as electronic incorporations that play into the fields of the new music genre.
